New Balance 550 "Pure Platinum" | Oshman’s New Balance “Athletic Pack” Centered Around Three Celebrated Classics

Originally American-owned, sporting goods purveyor Oshman’s has effectively integrated overseas, and despite all of its locations in the West shuttering their doors, the Japanese branch is still growing as they celebrate their newest Harajuku store with a three-part New Balance capsule. Essentially inheriting the country’s passion for the Boston icon, the retailer is set to honor three classic silhouettes: the 1500, 991, and 670.

And while the forms themselves are entirely different, the colorway is practically identical — only the blocking itself is tweaked to better suit the canvas on which it dresses. the 1500, which arrives with signature Made in England quality, boasts bright reds at its accenting toe box layers while dark navy seats just adjacent. Suedes further adorn the toe cap and heel with light grey, subtly easing into the white that composes the tooling, mesh, and lining. Alongside, the 991 appropriates the Union Jack inspired with the same level of construction. The bolder shade, however, only appears in seldom as it affixes to the “991” embroidery at the heel, the panel above, the sole just barely, and the tongue Women; mudguards then dye to blue while the rest stays neutral. Different mostly in its oversized “N” logo, the 670 covers the forefoot and heel wrap in the cool tone while finishing at select details with the complement and the tread with a fan Arrival gum bottom.
