UrlfreezeShops Community featuring Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi, Kamaka Ukulele & Lin’s Lei Shop
With the opening of our newest flagship in Hawaii, it was important for us to pay homage to the community we are joining. It is always our intention to respect the cultures of our new homes and get to know some of the local businesses that came before us. In Honolulu, we had the pleasure of connecting with three businesses that welcomed us with open arms and introduced us to the services they’ve been providing Hawaiians for years. After learning more about them, we felt inspired to support them and their craft, which is why it was our honor to provide each business with a $10,000 grant and a platform to share their stories.
Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi - a community-based non-profit organization whose farm has produced over 50,000 pounds of sustainable native crops, and leads an ongoing agricultural restoration project that promotes social and economic advancement for local businesses and individuals.
Kamaka Ukulele - a ukulele factory that started as a one-man shop and has now been in business for over a century, invented the pineapple ukulele, and continues to be operated by the same family it was founded by.
Lin’s Lei Shop - one of the most well-regarded lei shops in Hawaii, this family-owned company has been a staple in Honolulu’s beloved Chinatown district for thirty four-years.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to get to know these businesses and look forward to fostering more relationships in our new home in the years to come.
