ERL is the namesake label of renaissance creative Eli Russel Linnetz. Born and raised in Venice Beach, California, Linnetz originally made a name for himself as a frequent collaborator with high-profile artists such as Kim Jones, Justin Bieber, and Lady Gaga. The label, which is produced by Dover Street Market, presents a surrealist fever-dream of Los Angeles Americana. Recent collections have re-contextualized dude-culture from the ‘70s and ‘90s, referencing military garments alongside skull-patterned skiwear. ERL investigates the pervasive hyper-masculinity of American culture through unisex garments, forming its own vocabulary that is neither Ivy League Prep or Japanese-Americana, nor counter-culture, but its own unique design language.
