The 991 is a New Balance fan favourite. When it was first released 20 years ago, it was a top-of-the-range-runner that showed off the brand’s premium British craftsmanship. Now it’s a street icon, leading the dad sneaker trend. There’s no better model, then, for long-time NB partner Slam Jam to rework for their latest collaboration. The retailer’s signature colourway — black and grey — covers the upper, which features rubberised caps on the toe and heel counter, plush pigskin suede overlays and ripstop in place of the usual mesh. Reflective accents on the piping and N branding complete it with a nod to the shoe’s technical roots.
