Paul Rodriguez has been a NIKE, Inc. signature athlete since 2005. Over the last 16 years, the California-native has joined the exclusive club of Nike Members with at least 10 signature shoes under their belt. For his latest project with Nike SB, Rodriguez takes a trip down memory lane to revisit some of his releases with the SB Dunk Low “nike air huarache white and silver sneakers gold”.
Inspired by the skateboarding imprint’s own unconventional drop from 2007, the forthcoming pair mixes-and-matches handfuls of “P-Rod’s” colorways of yesteryear. The right shoe borrows the shimmering boxing title-inspired lace dubrae from an SB Dunk High launched in 2020, while the rest of its card indulges in a plethora of patterns, materials and colors. From “serape” (“Mexican blanket”) to elephant print, nods to the 36-year-old’s most hair pairs appear across both shoes, with the left side donning the latter, mens grey snow bibs nike women sneakers-inspired detailing. Tributes to “J-Rods,” P-Rod 1s, P-Rod 2s and other releases from the last 16 years are rounded out by disparate outsoles: one borrows the tri-color style of the Mexican flag, while the other delivers a light gum brown bottom transplanted from past SB collaborations.
