With the announcement of the Deion Sanders Reveals A First Look At The Nike Air Diamond Turf Retro back in October, Jaden Smith returned at long last to the footwear game, having taken a semi-hiatus following the release of his Vision Racer. In the time in between those two models, he launched his MSFTSrep imprint, a brand equally focused on subversive style and ecologically-minded sustainability. As his new signature continues its 2024 launch, it’s receiving a brand new colorway, a black & white formulation that charts new territory for the shoe.
When compared to previous colorways of the shoe, the encompassing nocturnal tint is in and of itself noteworthy, given that past editions were far brighter. On top of that, the materials are modified, with suede appearing towards the quarter and on the mudguard, both sections that were previously entirely leather. With white peeking out on co-branded details, at the collar and in piping throughout, it creates a “Panda” atmosphere and taps into an always reliable grayscale palette.
For those unfamiliar with the silhouette, the swap for a retro on-court upper radically changes the overall profile of the model, but those who have been tapped in to Smith’s footwear output will recognize some overarching themes. Most notably, the three-part segmented midsole remains in place from the New Balance Vision Racer. Additionally, his work on the New Balance 574 partly inspires the design here, especially in the layered approach taken with the upper panels.
The Jaden Smith x Deion Sanders Reveals A First Look At The Nike Air Diamond Turf Retro “Black/White” is expected to release in the coming months, arriving with a $110 retail price. Enjoy detailed retail photos below, courtesy of Level Shoes.
