Brooks powered the Hyperion Elite 2 with an updated DNA Flash midsole. The nitrogen-infused cushion maintains an ultralight weight but delivers big energy return and improved durability, so you get a longer lifespan—Brooks says the shoe will stand up to 200-400 miles. Designers also added an extra 2 mm of stack height compared to the first version of the shoe.

Additional energy savings come from the broad midsole and Brooks’ uniquely shaped carbon-fiber plate. The plate increases the shoe’s propulsive feel and works with the midsole to keep runners in their bodies’ preferred motion path. Brooks also carved the midsole into its Rapid Roll shape for effortless transitions.
