From NFTs to Physical Sneakers - A Look at the RTFKT x Nike Dunk Genesis

The latest collaboration between RTFKT and Nike, which will see the Dunk Genesis launch as an NFT in April 2022, will now also include a physical component. As RTFKT has been known for its digital sneaker creations since it was acquired by Nike in late 2021, it is only right that they are now available in physical form. During the Forging style, which takes place from 18 to 30 October, NFT owners will have the opportunity to purchase up to five pairs of the coveted sneakers in three different colourways. What is special about this is that the tokens will not be destroyed after redemption, but will remain in the possession of the owner.

Each sneaker will be produced to order and is scheduled for delivery from June 2024. Although the exact design of the three sneakers has not yet been revealed, RTFKT teased a prototype on Instagram in August. The Dunk Genesis retains the Dunk Low's basic silhouette, but features a fresh, chunky sole unit and other details that highlight its technological roots. While the ability to mine Dunk Genesis NFTs has expired, those interested in acquiring the physical sneaker can still purchase the necessary tokens on OpenSea. Currently, the cheapest token available is available for 0.101 ETH, which is equivalent to about 165 US dollars.

Fans will have the opportunity to secure a pair of sneakers during the Forging style, which is taking place for a mules time only. The cost of a pair is the equivalent of $222 in Ethereum, plus a "gas fee". If you want one of these one-of-a-kind sneakers, you'd better act fast, as there won't be any more opportunities after the style ends. Visit rtfkt.com for more information about the style and frequently asked questions.
